Kanon studied music in Queensland, Australia and she’s famous for her transparent voice. Since she’s not the “idol” type of musician but the more traditional classical performer, “Brand New Breeze” is slightly different from the average anime theme. I quite like the song itself but it doesn’t quite fit the “opening” I think because it’s a bit too soft and slow. It might be better if it were used as the ending theme instead.

I never thought of it not fitting the opening. But now that I think about it I agree with your opinion that it would be better as an ending. I really do like Kanon’s voice and thank you for the info about her musical education because with her English pronounciation, she either had had to have studied abroad or is not fully Japanese.

The B-track “The Power” is also a very pretty song.

I was a bit disturbed an unimpressed by the opening at first. But I was surprised when I listened to the full song and realise that in some odd sort of way it did fit the anime. I think it would have works as an opening if the animation was suited to the music instead of the reverse. Absolutely have to say that “The Power” is more impressive than “Brand New Breeze” but it doesn’t have the put-the-song-on-repeat-quality as latter.
